As a parent /carer for a neurodivergent child there are three places you should always go to for support. There is no need for a diagnosis to get early help.
Parent Carer Forum
Every local authority area in England has a local PCF – Parent Carer Forum. They are independent groups of parents and carers of young people (aged 0-25) with special educational needs and/ or disabilities (SEND). They work with local authorities, health services and education providers to help improve services and outcomes for young people with SEND.
Some forums are more active than others but nearly all offer coffee mornings and opportunities to meet with other parents and carers in your local area. Sign up with them and they can keep you updated on services / activities in your area.

SENDIASS Service
Every local authority area has a SENDIASS service. It offers children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) & their parents access to an impartial Information, Advice and Support (IAS) service.
If you are looking for free independent information in relation to your child’s education then you should get in touch with your SENDIASS Service. Many will also have online resources and offer in person drop in’s.

The Local Offer
Every local authority will also have a ‘local offer’ this is usually a website that details all information about support services available in the local area. Here you should find information on getting support for your child as well as local charities, clubs and groups that you may be able to access. It is a good place to look for local groups/ services in your area.
