Playmobil kindly gifted us their Country Farm with Small Animals in exchange for this honest review. I was really excited as I remember having so much fun with Playmobil as a child myself. The one thing I didn’t remember was building any Playmobil sets, I guess mum & dad had that job. Well this time it was my turn.

It took me just under an hour from opening to being completely set up. I am sure it could be done quicker than that as I was taking my time. The instructions were pretty straightforward, all visual and similar to LEGO instructions style which I am more familiar with. A little tool was included to put the smaller pieces into the structure which did make it easier (especially after I got the hang of it).
The Barn
The main structure is the barn and has some great features. I really like the little details such as the little birds and mice. A ladder attaches at the back of the barn and the front has a pully that can be used to lift items up to the second floor. The pully was great fun for the boys and my eldest enjoyed making the people ride up and down on it.

The barn structure is pretty robust, don’t get me wrong it won’t hold up to very rough play so not ideal for under 4’s. It seems to be standing up well to my boys play (aged 6 & 8).
What’s Included
What makes this play set great is having so many pieces and details. There are small animals including cows, sheep, ducks, chickens, birds, mice and a dog. Also two adults, a child, tractor, tree, fences, flowers, haybales, grass, eggs, food, baskets and more. There is plenty to make the play interesting. I also like that there are young as well as adult animals.

My eldest really likes the tractor. He spends ages seeing how much can be balanced on the back as it is driven round the house.
Some of the pieces are small so wouldn’t be ideal around a child that is likely to put things in their mouth. But it is perfect for children that are into real world play.

What did we think?
When the boys came home from school and saw the farm set up they were straight in there to play. Honestly they both have had so much fun playing with it and it has been great to watch how they play. They have both enjoyed making the animals and people go up and down in the barn. My youngest has been singing ‘Old McDonald’ while he plays too.

I think the quality is good and there is lots included that make the set good quality and value. I would certainly recommend it for real world play. Available from Playmobil & most toy retailers.

I love playmobil – as I slowly get rid of all the kids toys, that’s one I’ve kept for the (possibly) grandkids…Thanks for joining in #KCACOLS
I have great memories of playing with Playmobil from when I was a kid, and there’s something about their design which really appeals to me. This set looks brilliant, and I love that it has so many different animals and other features. I was going to say it would be great for some interactive singing of ‘Old MacDonald’, but then I saw your youngest has already beaten me to that idea! 😀 x #KCACOLS
