I have done a few slime reviews so was pleased to hear Canal Toys have come up with a new and unique type of slime. Anti Bacterial Slime! Yes you heard me anti-bac slime and its great. The boys enjoy slime so as soon as they saw a pot of slime they were asking me for it.

A brand new product it is slime that sanitises whilst having the usual slime fun.  With two slime lovers who enjoy short but regularly sensory play with slime this really appeals to me.

Slime that cleans your hands

So we have all been using anti-bacterial gel and extra washing over the past year. However it can still be hard to get the kids to wash their hands properly.  Without supervision the tap goes on and off in a couple of seconds in our house. I find I have to stand over them making sure they wash with soap properly. This slime is an extra way to clean the kids hands whilst playing.

The slime is non-toxic and alcohol free. It still gives you that feel of using an anti-bacterial gel but with a smooth feel. There is no strong smell or sting that some gels have.  The slime was actually a little less sticky than usual. It holds together really well so was great for playing with and easily putting back in the pot. It is designed for multi-use which is great and retains the anti bac properties for up to a month. I really liked the feel of this slime. It did leave my hands feeling like I had just used a gentle sanitiser.

Slime in hand

The kids love it

I love the fact that the kids were happily playing with the slime getting it all over their hands (front and back) with no idea they were cleaning them.  My eldest kept squishing the slime between his fingers and I though how hard it can be for me to get him to clean these parts of his hands. I usually have to do it hand over hand with him to get his hands properly clean.  The slime is a great way to get his hands fully covered in sanitiser. Plus it kills 99% of the bacteria on his hands.

It comes in a small container that is easy to transport. I really like the lid design as its secure and has an extra layer to keep the slime in. It comes in four different colours we had pink and purple which were both suitably vibrant and enticing to the boys.

The boys really love the slime and I like the idea of being able to take it out and about. My youngest has sensitive skin and reacts to lot’s of hand gel so gets upset when we put it on him and the slime is ideal for him.  This will be great for days we are out the house for a long time.

How much does it cost?

Prices start at just £2.99 for a pot or £9.99 for four so great value for money. I can actually see this being a great option for anyone who’s child is really struggling with washing hands.  If you have a kid like mine who enjoy slime then it’s a great bonus that they are getting clean while using it.

This slime looks so fab – and great that it’s antibacterial too! #KCACOLS

I do like slime, but I usually avoid any products that kill almost all bacteria, as that can be negative for our immune systems (we need the good bacteria, and if we sanitise our environment too much, we’re less likely to have a strong immune system for fighting any illnesses we eventually encounter). Do you know if this is antiviral as well as antibacterial as well? I’m guessing it probably is, but it would be interesting to know, from a covid perspective in particular. As you say, it could be a good option for children who find handwashing a very unpleasant sensory experience x #KCACOLS

What a great idea and a fantastic time to play with this slime. Will certainly have a look when my little man gets a little bit older and stops putting everything straight in his mouth!
